Simple DIY Projects To Transform Your Home

If you’ve been in lockdown and been giving your home a long hard look, then there are simple jobs that can be accomplished that will breathe new life into your space, without needing to call in the experts for major remodelling or extensions.

According to Property Reporter, 38 per cent of Brits are now ‘doing it themselves’, rolling up their sleeves and turning their hands to quick and simple home-improvement projects. We have six projects for you to flex your DIY muscles.

1. Transform with tiling

It might require a little more skill than some tasks, but with a little patience and practice, revamping the kitchen or bathroom with tiling will achieve an enviable look.

Tiling a splashback in the kitchen means you only need to tile the lower half of the wall and can create a stunning impact without breaking the bank.

2. Colour co-ordinate ceilings and corridors

Try coordinating a section of wall or ceiling with that of a piece of statement furniture. This works exceptionally well in darker corridors, creating a boutique hotel-style vibe.

A strong colour on the ceiling teamed with cabinetry in the same colour can make a narrow space look utterly revitalised.

3. Update handles and knobs

Replacing the handles and knobs on cupboards, drawers, and other furniture is a great way of refreshing older cabinetry without spending a fortune or having to replace entire kitchen units.

4. Customise with chalk paint

Chalk based paint offers a flat, matt finish and brilliant coverage with one or two coats. It’s ideal for painting walls, furniture, indoors and outdoors, it's especially suited to vintage pieces or flea market finds that just need a bit of love and attention.
